Strength for You

Confession: I am a deep feeler and thinker with a vivid memory and imagination. This is helpful when writing or connecting with or encouraging people. However, these same traits can make me vulnerable to being tossed around by reminders of past mistakes, false responsibilities, and fears. Soon, I may start carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. When this happens, I have found it helpful to ask God to quiet my mind and adjust my vision. I ask to see things through His eyes and receive His strength to accept and forgive or re-forgive myself, have faith that he hears all my prayers, and trust in his control and care. Last night as I was trying to focus on Jesus instead of the competing thoughts in my head. I literally found myself lifting my left arm up as if I could physically grasp His hand.

Instantly this verse came to me:

Fear not, for I am with you;

Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:10

I smiled because I could imagine him gently but firmly holding my left hand with his right hand, whether beside or facing me.

Thank you, Jesus, for always being there and inspiring me to reach for your hand even before remembering Your Promising Words. You are truly a friend that sticks closer than a brother, and I pray this story encourages someone.
