Strengthening Words for the Shaken

For anyone out there feeling shook or weary from all that is happening in the world right now, I want to encourage you with these reminders:

There is no one or nothing more powerful than the Creator of the universe.
He does not overlook anything that concerns you.
He is full of compassion for all who are suffering.
He sees everything. Nothing takes Him by surprise.
He hears all your prayers.
He is a God of mercy and justice.
He draws near to the brokenhearted.
He is sovereign and trustworthy.
He Is All that is Goodness and Love.
He understands and cares about how you are doing right now and in every moment of your future.
He is there to help you through every hour of every one of your days.
Sometimes he calls you to act and sometimes to be still.

You can depend on Him for all the strength, endurance, and wisdom that you will need.
You will never be alone.

I also want to offer this encouragement: If your heart is heavy with emotion, pour your concerns and feelings out to Him. He is listening and cares. God so lovingly shows us through the example of psalmists that sometimes we need to express and release our feelings before we can recall and declare the words from the One who loves us and knows us so well. Stark honesty with God can result in a divine exchange of exhaustion for renewed strength, pain for comfort, misbeliefs for freeing truths, or all of the above.

“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. “

Psalm 46
