Are you juggling a lot? Do you have a lot of goals, projects and passions. I do — I want to be a better wife, mom, friend, speaker, write another book — just a section of my list.
I am more of a global vs. a systematic thinker, so I have this exhausting ability to think about a lot of my projects at once, even if I am following a schedule. I need to focus on one thing at a time and avoid distraction — another thing to work on! I also want to achieve my goals quickly and have at times felt edgy and discouraged when I am making mistakes. I can’t think of any pursuit I’ve had that didn’t involve some humbling errors.
I think God sees us very differently from how a lot of us see ourselves while we are learning. I believe to him we are as cute and endearing as a little kid trying his best to catch and throw a ball. He doesn’t criticize our fumbles along the improvement path. I think He just smiles warmly, gives us guidance, and encourages us to try again. I believe He is joyful about our faith and our efforts.
He also knows that as we learn, what we need more than anything is a heart to heart connection with Him. It is more important than anything on our list. He is the source of all we need for life, and I believe our deepening connection with Him His first priority. He also wants us to enjoy the process of reaching our goals. I sensed Him speak words to me about this recently. I wrote the words down, and I am reading them like a daily “prescription”. I decided to share it for anyone out there who needs the same encouragement:
Enjoy your life right now. Don’t wait untill after you achieve the next goal. Slow down to generously show love to everyone with you and in your path, especially your own family. The destination is not more of a treasure than the process of getting there. Both parts have great worth in My kingdom. You will not be more valuable than you are now or then you ever were. You are, have always been, and will always be highly esteemed by me because you are my child, and I created you. Don’t look back or forward — be “all there” in the moment, focusing on the priority I give you in the hour and in the day. Don’t neglect truly undistracted time with me each day. It is as essential as eating and sleeping and bathing. I am your “life-coach” and I want to hear your heart and I want you to hear mine. I want to fill you up with love and assurance and confidence in Me. I have instructions that are life-giving to you and others. You will not lose time by coming away with Me. You will be incredibly efficient, powerful, and deeply joyful. We are co-laborers. We are friends. I am the best person to work with. Together we live passionately, laugh heartily, and love generously.
I love Him so much.
I have never called you ‘servants,’ because a master doesn’t
confide in his servants, and servants don’t always understand what the master
is doing. But I call you my most intimate friends, for I reveal to you everything
that I’ve heard from my Father ( John 15:15 TPT).
And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance (Ephesians 5:2 TPT).
My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness (John 15:11 TPT) !
We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit (2 Cor 3:18 TPT).
